A Boat Designed for Sail Training
Designed by Olympic and Offshore Sailing School founder, Steve Colgate, these sailboats were created expressly as a platform to teach sailing on. The result is a comfortable, safe and responsive sailboat with many exciting features.
Each Colgate 26 is built with foam flotation integration rendering the Colgate unsinkable. The aft "instructor" section of the boat has a second mainsheet allowing the instructor to maintain control and safety of the boat at all times. A well balanced sail plan and tiller makes the boat responsive and easy to sail.
A wide open cockpit can easily accommodate up to 6 passengers, although all First Reef Sailing classes are capped at 3 students. This gives each student a lot of room to work with and allows for plenty of time at the helm.
